Featured Artist of the Week: Zero 7

I listen to music everyday during most of the day, and I can assure you that I listen to at least one Zero 7 song a day. That’s how much I love their music. Wikipedia describes Zero 7 as “sometimes viewed as the British counterpart to the French down tempo group Air"; which I think is a wonderful comparison.

Zero 7 is a down tempo styled musical duo consisting of Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker from the UK. Both groups, Air and Zero 7 are perfect for an anytime, coffee shop chat… the kind of intimate, ambient pop/acid jazz that you might love when enjoying the day with a glass of wine. Talking about wine, their song “Waiting to Die” is just perfect for that…. Fits like a glove.

Zero 7 started in the late 90’s; breaking into the music scene by doing remixes. Ever since then, they have released three albums. The most recent album, The Garden, was released in May 2006 and features vocals from Mozez, Sia Furler (both going solo right after the release of The Garden), Tina Dico, Sophie Barker and Jose Gonzalez. They are known for having up to a dozen people on stage during their live shows. Well, I am still waiting for them to visit South Florida… hopefully soon. I’ll let you all know when that happens.

Here’s the official video for “Futures” from their latest album The Garden, featuring the vocals of Jose Gonzalez. One of my favorite songs… hope you like!
