Emiliana Torrini

I love the sweet voice of Icelandic/Italian singer, Emiliana Torrini. Her music style is a mix of trip-hop beats and electronica rhythms, like a fusion of Björk (maybe not as experimental) and Mazzy Star. Her voice is like an angel’s cool whisper joined by gentle acoustic guitars sounding warmly intimate… almost effortless. This effortless sound is actually not easy to accomplish. It takes a lot of work for a producer to capture the acoustic setting, increasing occasionally with a quiet piano or light percussion, while allowing Torrini's voice to ramble through her childlike melodies.

The music is beautiful, simple, intimate, and sometimes Bossa Nova sounding… the kind of music that stays in your subconscious like a lullaby.

Emiliana Torrini's 'Gollum Song' is part of The Lord Of The Rings' soundtrack.
