New Indie Songs From The Music Department

Hayden - 'Dynamite Walls'
Oh, Canada! How I love your Indie music! This is a wonderful song from Canadian singer and songwriter Hayden. The singer and his cast of musicians create a number of melodically gorgeous tracks that gets better with each listen. Dynamite Walls is one of the album's best tracks, in my opinion. It starts nice and mellow, building into a fairly rocking' roller. Love it!

Kevin Drew - 'TBTF'
Kevin Drew is a member of the Toronto based Indie rock band Broken Social Scene, and this is his solo debut… an album that fans of well written Indie rock cannot miss. One of my favorites is TBTF, a song that starts and ends with a slow and sexy kind of groove adding a bit of messiness in the middle. The album is just well made, well thought out and a delight to listen to.

Joanna Newsom - 'Cosmia'
Joanna Newsom is a young Canadian Indie harpist. While the harp is classical by nature, her rhythms, style and Bjork / Tori Amos-like voice are far from classical. Her voice is awkward and experimental… which is okay. The only thing I dislike about this track is the way she sings "kith and the kin". I would have liked for her to replace the sound of her voice at those two points in the song. Other than that is a beautiful song performed by a very talented artist. Her music is not for everyone; it’s only for those with a refined ear.
