Eco-friendly Fashion

Anthropologie is one of my favorite stores. They have the cutest dresses around, the most beautiful vintage modern fabrics and home goodies. My kitchen is actually equipped with items I’ve purchased on sale at the store… I refuse to pay full retail price unless is something I really fell in love with.

In the past months, the store has launched such gorgeous stuff out there designed by “green” fashion designers from different parts of the world. I’ve found some www.talladesign.com items at the store. Talla is run by Talla Wesley, who designs her prints, then has
Samiti and Tharangini Designs print them for her. Samiti employs and trains underprivileged Indian women to hand-print patterns using traditional techniques. They also use vegetable and other eco-friendly dyes to print with. Now with more eco-friendly stuff in the market, maybe people will start thinking of it as an easy choice to make.

Here's one of my favorite dresses and vintage prints from Anthropologie this season.

Anthropologie has also produced a whole series of pieces with Josef Frank’s magnificent patterns. For those of you unfamiliar with his work, Josef Frank (1885-1967) was an Austrian architect, city planner and designer. He was a supporter of the Modern Movement who became mostly famous for his textiles and made over 200 patterns between 1909 and 1950, who mainly incorporated themes from nature. His textiles are available today through many suppliers around the world.

If a couch is too much for you, then start with a table lamp or some sofa pillows. They will brighten up any room and will become something you’ll cherish! Keep the cat away.
