The Body As Sculpture

This fantastic art piece is the work of Antony Gormley, a famous English sculptor who takes the human body as its subject. Gormley has a degree in archaeology, anthropology and history of art, putting into practice his knowledge onto his art.

He uses his own body or "the closest experience of matter that I will ever have and the only part of the material world that I live inside" in many works as the basis for metal casts, considering it artistically not as a thing but a place.

His work has toured America, Europe, and Asia. ‘Block Works being his most recent collection. He’s one of the most celebrated artists of contemporary British sculpture.

Visit Antony Gormley’s website for more info and photos of his work.
