Casa de Gerés

Casa de Gerés, designed by Graça Correia and Roberto Ragazzi, is a residential house located in a protected area overlooking the Cavado river in Portugal. Due to its location, it is prohibited to cut trees, so the challenge was to adapt the house to its environment without altering it. The result is this beautiful cantilevered concrete house on top of a hill.

The program required mainly a family home with a guest room, storage space for ski equipment and a designated shower area separated from the house.

The area is very humid and rainy especially during the winter, so concrete was the best material to make the house resistant to the elements.
